Guillermo Tovar de Teresa Museum
Overview
Most people may not know this but the Casa de Guillermo Tovar de Teresa museum is one of the three locations of the Museo Soumaya (Soumaya Museum) by the Carlos Slim Foundation. The property encompasses 600 square meters of land and more than 900 square meters of construction and was a Porfirian casona (mansion) which belonged to Guillermo Tovar de Teresa, Chronicler of Mexico City and a scholar of the Viceroyalty, the Second Empire and Porfirianism.
It antique and colonialesque outer and inner architecture and design harbor a collection of paintings, period engravings, sculptures, unpublished photographs, antique furniture, and 20,00 book volumes of 13,000 titles among other treasures. A visit around this house which often goes is absolutely worth it, and if you love photography this place is perfect for that.
